Apple Watch Series 9 just announced with a faster processor and improved sensors

During the company’s special “Wonderlust” event on Tuesday, Apple formally revealed the Apple Watch Series 9, the next generation of its wearable. The new Apple Watch features the same design as the previous iteration but with a speedier CPU and enhanced sensors.

For many years, the Apple Watch CPU stayed unchanged. In particular, Apple hasn’t released a faster CPU since the Series 6 in 2020. However, the SiP (system in a package) S9 in the Apple Watch Series 9 this year includes a faster GPU and GPU. This means that whether opening apps or resetting the system, consumers will notice faster loading speeds.

A new version of Apple’s ultra-wideband chip is also included in the S9 SiP. The new chip, like the U1, enables “spatial awareness,” allowing the gadget to precisely determine the location of other devices equipped with the same technology nearby. Apple is making this technology even more precise with ultra-wideband, which enables new functionality when using Find My.
