Google Launches Its Largest, Most Capable AI Model, ‘Gemini’, Says It Can Beat GPT-4 and Expert Humans?
Google’s new AI model, Gemini, is at the forefront of AI development, with Nano, Pro, and Ultra versions. The Nano version, designed for smartphones, has 1.8 or 3.25 billion parameters. Gemini Pro and Ultra outperform their predecessors, scoring a remarkable 90% on the MMLU benchmark, outperforming human performance.
Take a look at the Google Gemini hands-on video:
Isn’t that impressive? Gemini could understand spoken language and images effortlessly and seamlessly, even when the image changed dynamically (as when the duck was colored). Gemini was so responsive that it didn’t feel like an AI interaction; it could have been a human!
As it turns out, a portion of the video is fake. The AI interaction does not occur in the manner that Google demonstrated. According to Bloomberg, the YouTube description of the video includes the following disclaimer:
For the purposes of this demo, latency has been reduced, and Gemini outputs have been shortened for brevity.
Google’s Gemini can beat GPT-4 and expert humans
Google’s new AI model, Gemini, is at the leading edge of artificial intelligence innovations, with Nano, Pro, and Ultra versions available. The Nano version, designed for smartphones, has 1.8 or 3.25 billion parameters. Gemini’s Pro and Ultra iterations outperform predecessors, scoring a whopping 90% on the MMLU benchmark, outperforming human performance.
The Pro version includes integration with Google’s Bard chatbot, which improves conversational abilities. Meanwhile, Bard Advanced will make use of Gemini Ultra’s extensive capabilities. This dynamic trio meets a wide range of requirements, from mobile applications to complex language tasks.
Notably, Gemini’s success goes beyond mere benchmark performance; in intelligence tests, it outperforms both OpenAI’s GPT-4 and expert humans. Subject to local regulations, the English-language launch marks Gemini’s initial availability, paving the way for widespread adoption.
Google’s Gemini represents a significant leap in AI sophistication, providing versatile models with unprecedented parameter counts and outperforming benchmarks, pushing artificial intelligence to new heights.
