Pixel 7 Pro Super Res Zoom Camera Samples From Upgraded Telephoto Camera Revealed by Google

Google recently published pictures of the Pixel 7 Pro, after the release of its flagship phones on Thursday. The pictures were shot to highlight the abilities of the Pixel 7 Pro’s Super Res Zoom function, which arrived alongside the standard Pixel 7 model. The gallery collection includes three sets of pictures taken in Manhattan, San Francisco, and Mendocino, California

. The first set focuses on the One World Trade Center, with photos ranging from 0.5x zoom from afar to 30x magnification highlighting detailed features of the main antenna. The maximum zoom magnification offered on a Pixel device to date is 30x.

Google’s Senior Product Manager Alexander Schiffhauer posted the gallery, and he was also present at the ‘Made by Google event, where he detailed the Pixel 7 Pro zoom upgrades. Initially, the Super Res Zoom technology crops the images captured by the 50-megapixel main camera after 2x zoom.

When further zooming, the new 5x 48-megapixel telephoto camera, and Super Res Zoom kick in. It makes use of Google’s Tensor G2 SoC’s processing power for its new machine learning autofocus technique. Furthermore, Zoom Stabilization aids in the capture of detailed images at magnifications of 15x, 20x, and up to 30x.

On Thursday, the Pixel 7 Pro launched with the basic Pixel 7. Only the Pro model has the triple rear camera arrangement, which features a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens sensor, and a 48-megapixel telephoto camera. The standard Pixel 7 only has a 50-megapixel dual rear camera setup.

The phone has a 6.7-inch Quad-HD LTPO OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is equipped with the 2nd generation Tensor G2 SoC and runs Android 13 right out of the box. It has up to 256GB of internal storage.

This is a 5G smartphone with Bluetooth v5.2, NFC, and Wi-Fi 6E. A USB Type-C connector is also included for wired charging and data transfer. The smartphone has an in-display fingerprint sensor and faces unlock capabilities for additional safety.
